Visitor Information Centre Here, visitors can learn more about the different landscapes and flora and fauna on the island. The permanent exhibit features eight landscapes: tidal flat, salt marsh, polder, Westerplas, village, woodlands, dunes and North Sea beach. There are also temporary exhibitions, for example about the island’s cultural heritage. Excursions and activities The Visitor Information Centre organises various activities, including excursions. The range of excursions is greatest in the months of July and August. Summer visitors will have a hard time choosing between boat trips on the Wadden Sea and beachcombing, herb collection, earth walks and more. Other recreational activities can also be booked at the Visitor Information Centre, such as the Balg Express, Ride by covered wagon, Jafanka Boat Trip and a visit to a cheese making farm. Large parties visiting Schiermonnikoog for a weekend or a day can contact the Visitor Information Centre to organise the nature-oriented part of their programme.
